Miniature Tigers Live on My Side Of The City!

Last weekend I sat down with the guys from Miniature Tigers for a short interview and acoustic session. The full interview will air Friday night on Kpfk’s My Side Of The City from 12am-2am, Kpfk 90.7FM & www.kpfk.org

The guys were pretty awesome and kind enough to stop by during a busy tour schedule and play some songs for me. I couldn’t be more grateful. The Tigers are one of my favorite bands and I was nervous, stoked and happy they came down to pay the City a visit. There new record is called Fortress and came out this past Tuesday July 27 on Modern Art records.

Here’s a sneak peek, recorded last Saturday at a secret studio location in Pasadena….
I will never tell! This is a gift to all of those who check the blog and follow the show, enjoy this exclusive Miniature Tigers download of sweet pop brilliance! Who loves you? -the City!

Matthew Dear - Soil To Seed

It’s almost August which means we are only a few weeks away from Matthew Dear’s thrid LP for Ghostly International, Black City. The dj, producer, label founder, vocalist is set to release Black City on August 17. Here’s a bit of a teaser to wet your appetite, Soil To Seed is a nice slanky sexy electronic number, a bit like molasses on the dance floor. Me Likey!

R.I.P. Harvey Pekar

image

As many of you know Harvey past away earlier this month at his home in Cleveland. With all the craziness that this month has brought I haven’t had a chance to write up a proper post to pay my respect to Mr. Pekar. I stumbled across this rememberance over at Steve Stein’s webpage, many of you know Steve as one half of Double D & Steniski.

He did a great job on the write up & I suggest you read it & remember Harvey Pekar in your own way. I was never really huge into comics growing up as a kid but I collected trading cards as most kids & now I collect records. One of the most famed collectors, Harvey will be missed.

Read the write up Here.
